The May election beckons
BURLESON – There is one final addition to the May 6 election ballot. Misty Lemons has filed as the official write-in candidate for Burleson School District Trustee Place 3.
“This is my first time running for an office,” Lemons explained to the Burleson Star in an email.
Lemons said she became involved with the district because she is the mother of a 12-year-old special needs child. She said she hopes to share what she has learned over the years for the benefit of BISD parents and students.
“I think I could really help special needs families,” she said.
As the third Place 3 candidate, the 36-year-old stay at home mother will go up against incumbent Ryan Richardson, 30, a banker, and Jerry Duncan, 73, a retired manager.
Richardson and Duncan have lived in the district five years. Lemons has lived there four years.
Lemons filed for office Feb. 21 – the last possible day to register as a write in candidate – but too late to get on the actual ballot.
The staff of the Burleson Star will be interviewing candidates for office and publishing their platforms in the near future.
