Joshua’s girls basketball team celebrated senor night with a 53-49 overtime win over Everman in District 8-4A play.

The Lady Owls (11-19, 4-10) outscored the Lady Bulldogs, 8-4, in overtime to collect the victory. Hailey Calfee lead Joshua with 22 points and Kalie Schuman scored 11 points.

The squad’s lone senior, Kat Martin, who was honored before the game, scored seven points.

The Lady Owls led 34-33 heading into the fourth quarter.

Everman outscored Joshua, 12-11, in the fourth to force overtime.

Tuesday night, the Lady Owls closed out their season with a 70-27 loss at state-ranked and district-champion Waco.

Calfee scored eight points and Chelsie Lail added five points.

Owls fall to Waco

The Joshua Owls fell to Waco 84-50 Tuesday night in a game that was plagued by turnovers and poor defense.

Junior Loya scored 10 points for the Owls while Connor Brown scored nine and Garrett Hoffman and Tyler Wright each dropped in eight points.

The Owls (1-11, 1-23) will try to rebound Friday night when they host Burleson on senior night.

“Hopefully, we’ll  have a good crowd out there Friday night,” Joshua coach Jeff Hudak said. “It will be a big night for our seniors.”

The Owls finish their season Tuesday at Crowley.
