Joshua -- John Anselm Fuller, 81, of Joshua, was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and never met a stranger who didn’t become his friend almost instantly. He went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 1, 2010.

 Graveside services are 2 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2010, in Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood. Visitation is 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity of choice.

 Born August 14, 1928 in Evant, John A. Fuller was the only child of John Alton and Ada Mae Baker Fuller. He was baptized into Christ at the age of 16 at the First Methodist Church in Brownwood and graduated from Brownwood High School in May of 1945. John attended both Howard Payne and Daniel Baker colleges in Brownwood, graduating with a bachelor of arts degree in 1952. He was awarded a teaching certificate for the state of Texas shortly thereafter.

 In 1950, John joined the United States Air Force , attaining the rank of staff sergeant. Through the Operation Bootstrap Program, he was able to receive his college degree. He was responsible for training soldiers at Lackland Air Force Base in preparation for serving in the Korean War. John was honorably discharged from the military in 1954.

 John married Carol Ann Andrews in Fort Worth on December 31, 1957. From this marriage, two children were born, Lori Ann and Joel Andrew Fuller.

 He was employed by General Dynamics, Fort Worth Division (later Lockheed-Martin) from 1954 to 1985 and by Defense Logistics Agency of the Department of Defense from 1985 to 1996.  After retirement, he spent time assisting at Joshua Elementary School in Joshua along with a variety of other activities. He attended First United Methodist Church in Joshua. John spent the last years of his life taking pleasure in his love of reading, spending time with friends at “the cafe” and enjoying the company of his family.

 Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Carol Ann Andrews Fuller of Joshua; children, Lori Ann Fuller Ragon of Matthews, N.C., and Joel Andrew Fuller and wife, Marla, of Keller and grandchildren, Dustin Antonio of Hurst, Erin Ragon of Matthews, N.C. and Annie Fuller of Keller.
